Well, in my last update, I mentioned that I was thinking about taking Nicholas to the Aquarium. Well, I did that this past weekend. Michael and I both took Thursday and Friday off last week. It was our wedding anniversary so we spent all of Thursday together. Friday, we took Nicholas to Monterey. It was really a nice day to go to Monterey. There was no fog and the weather was perfect. While going there, we got lost for a bit (thanks to my brainless directions). Nicholas really loved the Aquarium. There are quite a few pictures of him at the Aquarium in October’s pictures. He was a little scared of some of the animal up front, like the stingrays. Of course, he wouldn’t touch anything. He loved to look out into the ocean at all the animals that were out there, like the seals and sea lions. He also had a lot of fun in the kid’s center. Michael also loved the trip since there were quite a few exhibits that he had not seen before either, such as the outer bay. Too bad the sunfish was no longer there. I think he would have been very amazed to see that fish. Nicholas didn’t really like the outer bay. Guess he wasn’t too into jellyfishes and how they light up in the dark. Maybe it was because it was dark in there most of the time or because it was one of the last places we visited. I think he was quite tired by then. Nicholas did love all the hands on exhibits, like all the fake fishes that made noises or lights that would turn on to show creatures hiding in the dark. After the Aquarium, we headed up Highway 1, towards Santa Cruz, thinking that the Boardwalk would be open. Well, we were wrong, the Boardwalk was closed for the winter. We did get a chance to go onto the beach, but Nicholas was a little scared of the waves so we didn’t stay long. On the way home, we had an opportunity to stop by Michael’s favorite restaurant, Florentine’s. If we did not stop for dinner, we would have been sitting in traffic on 680 instead so might as well be sitting in a more comfortable environment.
We also helped one of my younger sisters move into her new house this weekend. She got the keys to her house the Friday before last and finally was able to move in this past weekend. She’s so happy to finally have her own house. I really wish her the best with her house and her new career.
Zachary. Well, the little one is extremely fussy nowadays. Last night, he woke up quite a bit during the night. He has gotten into a habit of waking up every three hours or so now, but last night, I ended up staying up with him for about fifteen minutes and then having him sleep in the bed with us. Of course, Nicholas was complaining last night also and he ended up in the bed also. So, there was the four of us plus two cats on the foot of the bed. It was quite crowded considering that we only have a queen size bed. I think that the two of them planned it yesterday afternoon to both complain last night so that both of them could sleep in our bed. I mean it. Every time the little one acts up, Nicholas also acts up that same night. It’s like they planned it all out in the afternoon to get at mom and dad for disciplining them or something. Well, I just hope tonight will be a better night.
Okay, Zachary has grown a lot. One of my younger sisters took some pictures of him when he was two months old and then at three months old. Boy, do they look different. In the three-month-old pictures, he looked like he was six or seven months old. You can see both sets of pictures in his October page. He looks very cute in all of them. And still he looks so much like Nicholas. I wonder if they will look alike three years from now.
Halloween. Well, we will be taking Nicholas and Zachary trick-or-treating this year. I bought them customs already. Nicholas will be Batman and Zachary will be Superman. We tried the custom on Nicholas and he looks really cute in it. My younger sister wants to take pictures of them with their customs on. When she does, we’ll put those pictures up also. We were thinking about going around the neighborhood for a little while that day and then go back home and pass out candy ourselves. I think Nicholas will love it especially when he sees how much candy he’s getting. Of course, I’m going to be going through all of them to make sure that their all safe and also to decide which ones he can eat and which ones he can’t. Don’t want him to be eating that many sweets. I’ll most likely save the rest for him as a reward when he does good things like clean up after himself.
Oh yeah, that reminds me. Nicholas is now potty trained. He can now go to the restroom by himself. Well, maybe not 100% trained. He still needs to work on going to the big restroom. He hasn’t mastered that yet. He seems to tell us after the fact, but he knows how to go pee by himself. Every now and then, we’ll give him a reminder if he hasn’t gone in a long time. He still requires a diaper at night. He doesn’t know to get up in the middle of the night to go the restroom yet. We’re going to take this one step at a time.
Okay, I think it should do it for this update. Until next time, have a wonderful day. And don’t forget to set your clocks back one hour this coming Saturday evening. YES, an extra hour of sleep!
